Susan studied fine art at California Institute of the Arts, formerly called Chouinard Art Institute.
She has explored and mastered several art forms from detailed pen and ink drawing and print making to painting in oils and acrylics. Many of her paintings and drawings are in corporate and private collections. Several paintings have been published as limited editions by Art Boom Limited Editions.
Susan currently works and resides in the San Francisco Bay area.
Artist Statement
I’ve always loved creating art. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a little kid. As soon as I learned one medium I would want to explore another. I pored over countless art books in the library, discovering Matisse, Degas, Picasso, Van Gogh, Miro, each one inspiring me. Even after five decades as an artist, I’m still learning, exploring and experimenting. And I continue to be inspired by other artists.
Early on I realized that art has the power to communicate a message. I made the choice to create art that excites the imagination and the playful spirit of the viewer.
Although I have painted traditional and realistic works, my current approach is more spontaneous and occasionally abstract. I’m also delving into the exciting world of digital art.
